Our Staff

Since 1978, Karen Scott Audiology has been helping people diagnose, restore and protect their hearing.

We are a respected team of hearing specialists committed to providing our patients with the best hearing care possible –  from newborn to senior citizen. We are audiologists, which means we are primary health-care professionals who evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage hearing loss and balance disorders in adults and children.

As audiologists, we do so much more than just prescribing hearing aids.

We were amazed when we did the math. As of 2011, our staff has more than 50 combined years of experience as hearing specialists! That’s a lot of expertise on your side!

Karen M. Scott Photo

Karen M. Scott, Au.D., Audiologist

Dr. Scott received her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from the George S. Osborne School of Audiology at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.

She is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is a member of the American Auditory Society.

Karen is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, and received her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

She has been licensed since 1971 by the State of California to engage in the private practice of Clinical Audiology and to dispense hearing aids.

She founded Karen Scott Audiology in San Luis Obispo in 1978.

Christy L. Kirsch, M.A., Audiologist

Christy received her undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology at San Diego State University. She then did a clinical fellowship at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla, California, and at the San Diego Unified School District.

She has practiced audiology at (Rady) Children’s Hospital and Health Center in San Diego, and at Kaiser Permanente on Maui, Hawaii.

She is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is licensed by the State of California as an audiologist, and is also licensed to dispense hearing aids.

Christy joined Karen Scott Audiology in 2000, and is a specialist in Pediatric Audiology.

Jacque Carr photo

Jacque Carr, Hearing Care Specialist

Jacque received her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from California State University in Long Beach.

She’s always been oriented towards helping people, and was a Girl Scout and a Candy Striper at her local hospital. Following graduation, Jacque worked for the American Cancer Society in San Luis Obispo.

She’s been with Karen Scott Audiology for almost 10 years as a Hearing Care Specialist and Hearing Aid Counselor.

She finds great satisfaction helping her patients select and succeed with their new hearing devices.

Fred Fuller, Practice Manager

Fred graduated from Claremont McKenna College ’62 and remains a strong supporter of the school. After serving in the army and working as a banker, he moved to the Central Coast and became a partner in Karen’s business in 1998.

As the business manager he handles personnel, marketing and money matters. He and Karen have been married since 1982. He says, “I keep the company going so Karen and the staff can help our patients. We love our patients.”

Lindsey Westbrook photo

Lindsey Westbrook, Insurance & Billing Accounts Manager

Lindsey has been a part of our staff since January 2007. She serves as our patient/insurance representative coordinating billing and patient refunds. She also provides office support for day-to-day operations.

She combines medical billing knowledge with outstanding customer service skills, and can assist you with any aspects of your account billing. She has been instrumental in our billing and collections efforts while maintaining a healthy relationship with our patients.

Susan Savage, Front Office Manager

Susan is the initial contact point for our clients. Her vivacious and friendly personality will make you feel welcome immediately. Susan has spent most of her career in technical sales and understands the value of a courteous and helpful attitude. She will do her best to accommodate your schedule when making appointments for you.

Susan also ensures that our clients are prepared for their appointments and understand what their visits will entail. Other job functions include handling patient check-in, organizing patient records and answering questions about our services and products.
